The BJP provided him with a way out," he said at a rally as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Mr Gandhi, who addressed his first rally in Bihar since the 2020 assembly p

NASA's Hubble Detects Water Vapour In Small Exoplanet's Atmosphere

Astronomers using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope have detected water molecules in the atmosphere of a small,blazing-hot exoplanet 97 light-years from Earth. The planet, named GJ 9827d , is approximately twice Earth's diameter and could be an example of potential planets with water-rich atmospheres elsewhere in our galaxy. "This would be the first time that we can directly show through atmospheric detection, that these planets with water-rich atmospheres can exist around other stars," said team member Bjorn Benneke of the Trottier Institute for Research on Exoplanets at Universite de Montreal. "This is an important step toward determining the prevalence and diversity of atmospheres on rocky planets." "Water on a planet this small is a landmark discovery," added co-principal investigator Laura Kreidberg of Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. "Prime Ministerial Starring Spectacle": Shashi Tharoor On Temple Event

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Saturday asserted that the presence of opposition leaders at the consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya could have relegated them to a supporting role in a programme which, he claimed, belonged to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Supporting the Congress leadership's decision to skip the January 22 event, Mr Tharoor expressed willingness to visit the temple after the general elections are over when all the political focus on the shrine dies down. "The Congress' position is very very clear. The Congress party members are free to have their own religion and religious beliefs, and everyone's religion is respected by the party. So I go to temples to pray, and not to political events," the Thiruvananthapuram MP said. "This particular event (consecration of Ram temple) was essentially going to relegate the opposition invitees to a kind of supporting role for a prime ministerial starring spectacle. I did not think that Congress needed to

Couple's Daughter Dies From Rare Disease, Then They Made Her Into Stones

After the heartbreaking loss of their 15-month-old daughter, an Idaho couple, Kaylee and Jake Massey, chose a distinctive and meaningful approach to ensure the presence of their late little girl in their home. In April 2023, the couple endured the unimaginable when Poppy, their daughter diagnosed with the rare genetic disorder TBCD at 9 months old, died.   "When she was born, we knew absolutely nothing. She was just perfect to us. When she was around 4 months old, we noticed that her vision wasn't developing properly. And so after some doctor's appointments and ophthalmologist appointments, it was decided that she needed an MRI on her brain," Mrs Massey told People . "When she was 5 months old is when we finally got that, and the MRI showed that the centre part of her brain, the corpus callosum, hadn't developed properly, if at all." India vs China: Explaining Military Strength Beyond Numbers

Image
India has been ranked as the fourth strongest military in the world, just after China, according to the Global Firepower Index , a platform that analyses data based on factors that determine a nation's war-fighting capability.  China is the biggest spender on defence in Asia. In the financial year 2023-2024, India allocated $73.9 billion, while China reserved $229 Billion of its budget for the military. The Centre for Strategic and Investment Studies (CSIS), a US-based think tank, has said China's defence budget is higher than the published figures.  According to the Global Firepower Index, China's defence budget is the second highest globally and India stands at number four. The huge gap between India and China should be attributed to the difference in the size of GDPs. India is the fifth-largest economy and spends 13 per cent of its annual budget on defence. Meanwhile, China is the second largest economy in the world.  India has 1.45 million active personnel and China

Prince William Might Ditch Centuries-Old Church Of England Role, Claims Book

A new biography claims Prince William, heir to the throne, might break tradition by severing ties with the Church of England when he becomes king. Biographer Robert Hardman quotes palace insiders saying William isn't as devout as some might assume, making him potentially the first monarch in 500 years not to be the church's head, according to a report by the New York Post. While the book hasn't hit shelves yet, it's already stirring debate about whether the future King will usher in a new era for the British monarchy and its religious role. "In royal circles, it is no secret that he does not share the king's sense of the spiritual, let alone the late queen's unshakeable devotion to the Anglican church," Hardman, 59, writes of William in "The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy." "His father is very spiritual and happy to talk about faith, but the prince is not," the official told Hardman. "He doesn'

US Redesignates Houthi Rebels As Terrorist Group Amid Red Sea Attacks

The Biden administration on Wednesday returned the Yemen-based Houthi rebels to a list of terrorist groups, U.S. officials said, in the latest attempt by Washington to stem attacks on international shipping. Officials said the "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" (SDGT) designation, which hits the Iran-aligned group with harsh sanctions, was aimed at cutting off funding and weapons the Houthis have used to attack or hijack ships in vital Red Sea shipping lanes. The Houthis' campaign has disrupted global commerce, stoked fears of inflation and deepened concern that fallout from the Israel-Hamas war could destabilize the Middle East. "These attacks fit the textbook definition of terrorism," said one of three administration officials who briefed reporters ahead of the announcement on condition of anonymity. The designation comes after American and British warplanes, ships and submarines last week launched dozens of air strikes against the Houthis, who contro

Video: 2,800-Year-Old Settlement Found In Vadnagar, PM Modi's Hometown

A recent excavation in Vadnagar, Prime Minister Modi's hometown, unearthed evidence of unbroken cultural continuity spanning centuries. This challenges the long-held belief of a "Dark Age" following the Harappan civilization's collapse, suggesting a more nuanced picture of the region's history. Led by experts from IIT Kharagpur, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Deccan College, the study has found evidence of a human settlement that is as old as 800 BCE (before the Christian Era) at Vadnagar in Gujarat. #WATCH | Gujarat: On remains of a 2800-year-old settlement found in PM Narendra Modi's village, Vadnagar, Professor of Geology and Geophysics at IIT Kharagpur, Dr Anindya Sarkar says, "We have been working in Vadnagar with the ASI for the last 4-5 years...
