A woman recently shared a heartwarming story on X (formerly Twitter) about her positive experience on dating app Bumble. It all started with a match with an orthopaedic specialist. When she mentioned suffering from shoulder and neck pain, he didn't stop at just prescribing medication. This kind-hearted doctor went the extra mile, offering valuable advice to help her prevent future discomfort.  The prescription says "Take tab Mobizox 1-0-0 x 7 days (after food). Tab Pan-40 mg 1-0-0 x 7 days (before food)." Additionally, he recommended "Ointment Flexabenz" for her, telling her to apply it in a single layer rather than rubbing it in. "Apply hot packs too. Electoral Bonds Data A Setback To BJP? What PM Modi Said

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday rejected the suggestion that the electoral bond issue caused a setback to his government, saying no system is perfect and any shortcoming could be improved upon. He also said those who are "dancing" over the matter will repent it. "Tell me what have we done that I should see it as a setback? I firmly believe that those dancing over it (bond details) and taking pride in it are going to repent," he told Thanthi TV in an interview when asked if the electoral bond details have caused a setback to the ruling BJP. The Prime Minister said it is due to the electoral bond system put in by his government that the sources of funding and its beneficiaries could be found out. If a trail is available today, it is because of the presence of bonds, he said, asking if any agency can tell about the sources of funding and their beneficiaries for the polls before 2014, the year he came to power. "No system is perfect. There can be shortc

Mr Mahindra's comments came in response to billionaire Elon Musk, who highlighted the lack of cinematic representation of those working in the car manufacturing sector.  It all started with a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user DogeDesigner. "A million movies about cars. But hardly any movie about manufacturing. Someone should make a movie and tell the world how hard it is to do high-volume manufacturing," the X user tweeted. Reacting to this, Mr Musk highlighted the lack of representation of manufacturing in popular culture, noting the extensive focus on garage inventors in movies.  "Many movies exist about a lone inventor in a garage having a eureka moment, but almost none about manufacturing, so it's underappreciated by the public. Compared to the insane pain of reachin

"Waste Of Energy": Economist Sanjeev Sanyal On Multiple UPSC Attempts

Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) member Sanjeev Sanyal has said that 5-8 years of preparation for civil services examination by lakhs of students is a 'waste of youthful energy'. Mr Sanyal said one should only attempt UPSC or other such examinations if one wants to become an administrator. "As mentioned, it (is) perfectly fine to attempt the UPSC or other such exams, but only if the person wants to be an administrator. "The problem is that lakhs of people are spending 5-8 years repeatedly doing this exam as a 'way of life'. This is such a waste of youthful energy," he said in a series of posts on social media platform X. Mr Sanyal further said it may come as a surprise, but his view is shared by most bureaucrats, who cleared the exam at some point. "An attempt or two is fine for those who really want this path, but spending your entire 20s for it...is unhealthy," he said. The economist pointed out that an entire in

"People Scared To Talk": Mahua Moitra's Royal Rival Cites Law And Order

Amrita Roy, the erstwhile royal of Bengal's Krishnagar who will take on Trinamool Congress's Mahua Moitra, told NDTV today that given the law and order situation in the state, she thought she had a role to play. Citing the recent allegations of land grab and sexual harassment emanating from Sandeshkhali against Trinammol Congress strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, she told NDTV in an exclusive interview that such events happen every other day. "Some things are coming out. Other things are being kept under wraps... So I feel that I have a big role to play... this cannot go on," she told NDTV. "People are scared to come out or talk... in case they get a bad name. They are being deprived of their fundamental right," she added. The idea of contesting, though, was of the BJP, which had approached her, she told NDTV. She said though she had been apolitical all her life, she had accepted "since it was a good platform". Cyber Attack, Israel, WW3: US Bridge Collapse Sparks Conspiracy Theories

Conspiracy theorists said Tuesday that the Baltimore bridge collapse resulted from an intentional attack -- despite officials quickly saying there was no evidence for that. Hours after a container ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge, sending vehicles and people plunging into the US city's frigid harbor, users across X and other platforms blamed everything from terrorists to Israel. Among the most widespread posts came from influencer Andrew Tate, who told his nine million followers on X that the 300-meter vessel "was cyber-attacked." "Lights go off and it deliberately steers towards the bridge support," the US-born Briton said. "Foreign agents of the USA attack digital infrastructures. Nothing is safe." InfoWars founder Alex Jones, found liable in multiple defamation lawsuits for claiming the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school mass shooting was a hoax, reposted the allegation. "Looks deliberate to me," he said. "A cyber-attack i

Moscow Attack Poses Awkward Questions For Russia's Intelligence Agencies

Russia's security state has been ruthlessly effective at detaining Vladimir Putin's opponents but was caught off guard by a mass shooting near Moscow, raising questions about its priorities, resources and intelligence gathering. Charged with hunting down Ukrainian saboteurs inside Russia, with keeping anti-Kremlin activists in check, and with disrupting the operations of hostile foreign intelligence agencies, the FSB, the main successor agency to the Soviet-era KGB, has its hands full. That, say former US intelligence officials and Western security analysts, helps explain why it may have overlooked other threats, including that posed by Islamist militants, such as ISIS-K, which claimed responsibility for the attack. "You can't do everything," Daniel Hoffman, a former senior CIA operations officer who served as the agency's Moscow station chief, told Reuters. "You dial up the pressure on the locals and sometimes you don't get the intelligence you n

"Shouldn't Have To Pay Higher Prices...": US vs Apple Over iPhone Monopoly

The US Department of Justice sued Apple on Thursday for illegally maintaining a monopoly for its iPhone by stifling competition and imposing exorbitant costs on consumers. The lawsuit, also brought by multiple US states, attacked the iPhone for raking in hundreds of billions of dollars by making it difficult for consumers to switch away to cheaper smartphones and devices. The long anticipated case against Apple sees the company founded by Steve Jobs in 1976 clash with Washington after largely escaping US government scrutiny for nearly a half century. It joins Amazon, Google and Facebook-owner Meta which are also facing antitrust lawsuits in the United States. News of the lawsuit sent shares in Apple down by as much as 3.75 percent on Wall Street on Thursday. At the heart of the case is Apple's alleged exclusionary practices that set strict and at times opaque conditions on firms and developers seeking to reach the iPhone's 136 million US users. According to the lawsuit, t

Putin Wins Russia Presidential Polls With 88% Votes: 1st Official Results

President Vladimir Putin won a record post-Soviet landslide in Russia's election on Sunday, cementing his grip on power though thousands of opponents staged a noon protest at polling stations and the United States said the vote was neither free nor fair. For Putin, a former KGB lieutenant colonel who first rose to power in 1999, the result is intended to underscore to the West that its leaders will have to reckon with an emboldened Russia, whether in war or in peace, for many more years to come. The early result means Putin, 71, will easily secure a new six-year term that would enable him to overtake Josef Stalin and become Russia's longest-serving leader for more than 200 years. Putin won 87.8% of the vote, the highest-ever result in Russia's post-Soviet history, according to an exit poll by pollster the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM). The Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) put Putin on 87%. The first official results indicated the polls were accurate. &qu

"Think About Quitting Politics Every Day, Crazy Job": Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose Liberals are trailing badly in the polls, on Friday said he thought about quitting his "crazy job" every day but insisted he would stay in office until the next election. That vote must be held by October 2025 and recent surveys of public opinion show the Liberals would be crushed by the right-of-center Conservatives. Pollster say voters are tired of Trudeau, who first took office in November 2015. "I could not be the man I am and abandon the fight at this point," he told French-language broadcaster Radio-Canada in a lengthy interview. Asked whether he thought about quitting, he laughed and replied: "I think about quitting every day. It's a crazy job I'm doing, making the personal sacrifices ... of course, it's super tough, it's super boring at times." Last year, Trudeau and his wife Sophie announced they were separating after 18 years of marriage. The Conservatives say they will ax a carbo

Poorest Countries In The World: South Sudan On Top With $492 GDP Per Capita

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released a report highlighting the world's poorest countries based on GDP per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP). The report paints a stark picture, with South Sudan ranking as the poorest country globally, with a GDP per capita PPP of just $492.72. The world's youngest nation, which gained independence in 2011, faces significant challenges due to political instability, ongoing conflicts, and limited infrastructure. "Like An Airplane On A Runway": R Ashwin's Brutal Assessment Of Bazball

The recently concluded Test series between India and England was a tough test for the Bazball style of cricket made famous by the Ben Stokes -led side under coach Brendon McCullum . The visitors won the first Test in Hyderabad but were completely outplayed in the next four games as they slumped to their first series defeat in the 'Bazball' era. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out a major flaw in Bazball as he explained in his latest YouTube video that no form of cricket can be played in a similar pattern and the lack of adaptability ended up being the biggest problem for the England side. “Test cricket, or any other form of cricket for that matter, cannot be played like an airplane on a runway. We cannot step on the pedal and accelerate till we take off! It's the same as driving on highways. Sometimes, when I think of it, is it because of how they drive in England? Driving in England is bliss. No one comes in between. You can keep driving in the same lane. We

Poll Body Seeks Modification Of Bonds Order, Supreme Court Hearing Today

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Friday an application filed by the Election Commission seeking modification of the operative portion of its March 11 order in the electoral bonds case. The poll panel said the order had noted that copies of the documents submitted by it to the Supreme Court in sealed cover during the course of hearing be maintained at the office of the Election Commission. The EC said it did not keep any copy of the documents and added that they may be returned so that it can comply with the court directions. Biden Blasts "Loser" Trump As Campaign Slugfest Intensifies

President Joe Biden needled "loser" Donald Trump Wednesday, in his first battleground campaign stop since the two rivals secured their parties' nominations for what promises to be one of the most rancorous elections in US history. Speaking to supporters in Milwaukee in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin, the Democrat also blasted his hard-right Republican nemesis for describing immigrants as "vermin." The return to the campaign trail came a day after incumbent Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, both won enough delegates to clinch their parties' nominations for a rematch in November. "A lot of you helped me in 2020 and we made sure he was a loser. And we're going to make sure that happens again, right?" Biden told local supporters and volunteers in Milwaukee -- the same city where Trump and his party will hold the Republican National Convention in July. Biden has taken to repeatedly calling Trump a loser, knowing it rankles the defeated former pres
