A 33-year-old mechanic was stabbed to death Sunday at his rented house in the Mahindra Park area of northwest Delhi, police said. The victim, Zahid, was known to his alleged killer, who has been identified as Ravi, they said. The two reportedly had a fallout over a woman. Voting took place in 14 constituencies in Karnataka, with the Election Commission estimating the turnout at 69.23 per cent. A 62-year-old man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his cousin on suspicion of doing occult practice to kill him, police said on Sunday. The incident happened in Bharhki village on Saturday afternoon. Indrajit Pathak, who is physically challenged, was taking a bath near a hand pump outside his house when his cousin Mahendra Nath Pathak (54) came there and attacked him with a thick wooden block, they said. Due to the repeated attack, Indrajit fell to the ground and started bleeding profusely. Hearing the commotion, the victim's daughter Aanchal, who is also physically challenged, came outside but her uncle fled, police said. An Indian national awaiting deportation because of his illegal entry into the United States has died at a hospital in Atlanta, federal authorities said Wednesday. The Indian Consulate in New York has been notified about the death of Jaspal Singh, 57, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said, adding that his next of kin have also been notified about it. Singh died at a hospital in Atlanta on April 15. An autopsy is pending to determine the official cause of death, ICE said. Singh, an Indian citizen, first entered the US legally on October 25, 1992. On January 21, 1998, an immigration judge ordered Singh's removal from the US, and on an unknown date, Singh returned to India voluntarily. On June 29, 2023, he was arrested by US Customs and Border Protection's Border Patrol officers while illegally reentering the United States at the US-Mexico Border. The bodies of three men from Assam have been found in unmarked shallow graves in Meghalaya's East Garo Hills. The bodies were completely burnt and beyond recognition. The men were identified by the hired car they were travelling in, which was found nearby. The police said a preliminary inquiry indicated that the men were executed, their bodies set on fire to evade identification and then buried. The bodies were found in Rongmil area, 15 km from Rongjeng in East Garo Hills. Two of the men were found in a single grave. The other, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was in another grave. The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested two accused for their alleged involvement in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra West. The Karnataka Lokayukta has asked Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to submit documents in a disproportionate assets case against him it is investigating. The case was transferred to the Lokayukta after the Siddaraimah government withdrew the consent to the investigation by the Central agency, issued by the earlier BJP government. "There has been a CBI case against you. The case has been transferred to the Lokayukta. During the CBI investigation you have submitted information and documents. Do submit the same documents and information to Lokayukta too," read the notice to Mr Shivakumar.
