"Stupid On Our Part. I Am Sorry": Zomato CEO On Charging Veg-Mode Fees

Zomato's CEO, Deepinder Goyal, has issued a public apology for the extra fee that is being charged on vegetarian meal orders. After a LinkedIn user complained about having to pay more for a vegetarian delivery, this problem was brought to light. Quickly acknowledging the issue, Goyal promised that the additional cost will be waived right away. He was replying to the post of Route To Market's assistant vice president of e-commerce, Rohit Ranjan, who originally mentioned this issue in a LinkedIn post. "Being a vegetarian in India these days feels like curse. Zomato's latest masterstroke-introducing an "extra charge" for the veg enablement fleet-has officially turned us into a premium subscription plan. So, fellow herbivores, brace yourselves! We've gone from "green and healthy" to "green and pricey." Thanks, Zomato, for proving once again that being veg is now a luxury tax," Mr Ranjan wrote. The post caught the attention of Zoma...

"Success Is Uncertain": Musk As Debris From Broken Starship Falls From Space

The latest test of Elon Musk's SpaceX Starship, gargantuan next-generation megarocket, ended with the upper stage dramatically disintegrating over the Atlantic, forcing airline flights over the Gulf of Mexico to alter course to avoid falling debris. Around seven minutes after liftoff, the stainless steel Super Heavy booster decelerated from supersonic speeds -- generating sonic booms -- before descending gracefully into the launch tower's waiting arms, prompting an eruption of applause from ground control teams. A taller, improved version of the biggest and most powerful launch vehicle ever built blasted off from the company's Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, for its seventh test. The maneuver was first successfully executed in October, but not November, when Super Heavy made a controlled splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico instead. First night in Turks and Caicos and we're on the beach and see this. 👀 pic.twitter.com/CDPlLd70Yn — KingDomRedux (@KingDomRedux) Januar...

'Mulholland Drive' And 'Twin Peaks' Director David Lynch Dies At 78

David Lynch -- the singular and surreal director of "Mulholland Drive" and television's "Twin Peaks," who depicted the darkness lurking beneath the wholesome surface of American life -- has died. He was 78 years old. An enigmatic artist who turned his hand to arthouse and blockbuster film, television, painting and music, Lynch was considered first and foremost one of US cinema's great auteurs. "It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch," read a statement on his official Facebook page. "There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us. But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.'" The cause and location of death were not specified. Lynch, who lived in Los Angeles, had suffered from emphysema after years of heavy smoking. He emerged on the US indie scene with his groundbreaking 1977 horror "Eraserhead," a cr...

Trump's Secretary Of State Pick Goes Ballistic Over China's Global Ascent

The United States' incoming Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who keeps a hawkish eye on Beijing, has used the choicest of adjectives to describe China's ascent to global superpower status. Without mincing his words, Mr Rubio, who will give new direction to the US' foreign policy outlook, called China a liar, a cheat, and a thief, while blaming it for cyber-crimes and espionage. Speaking about the goodwill extended by the US to China in a repenting tone, Mr Rubio said, "We welcomed the Chinese Communist Party into this global order. And they took advantage of all its benefits. But they ignored all its obligations and responsibilities," adding that "Instead, they have lied, cheated, hacked, and stolen their way to global superpower status, at our expense." Indicating an abrupt foreign policy shift under Donald Trump, Mr Rubio highlighted that "The postwar global order is not just obsolete; it is now a weapon being used against us." He went on t...

Impeached South Korean President Yoon Arrested Over Failed Martial Law Bid

South Korean authorities on Wednesday arrested impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over insurrection accusations related to his brief declaration of martial law on December 3, investigators said. He is the first sitting president in South Korea's history to be arrested. According to reports, the suspended President was seen leaving his heavily fortified residence in central Seoul in a convoy to the offices of the Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) after a joint team of investigators and police said they had executed the arrest warrant. Mr Yoon had been holed up at his hillside residence for weeks, behind a small army of personal security to avoid arrest. His lawyers have argued attempts to detain the impeached Presidnet were illegal and were designed to publicly humiliate him. On Wednesday morning, his lawyer announced that the president had agreed to speak to investigators and that he had decided to leave the residence to prevent a "serious incident". "Presiden...

Gambhir, Agarkar Differ In Test Captaincy Choices. India Coach Wants...

As the new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary steps into the shoes vacated by Jay Shah, the hunt for Rohit Sharma 's long-term captaincy successor has begun. Rohit reportedly came close to hanging his boots in the Test format during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia but was made to change his mind by some 'well-wishers'. Rohit even claimed in an interview during the Sydney Test that he has no retirement plans at present, but Saturday's BCCI meeting with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir has painted a different picture. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, there isn't absolute agreement over Jasprit Bumrah 's name as India's next Test captain. When it comes to 5-match Test assignments, Bumrah's workload does become an issue and the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar series is an example. Bumrah had to sit out half of the 5th Test in Sydney due to a back issue. If he gets India's full-time Test c...

Tiwary called Gambhir a 'hypocrite', owing to his recent results with the Indian team, particularly the losses at home to New Zealand and against Australia Down Under. Tiwary didn't mince words as he questioned several decisions taken by Gambhir, in the capacity of the team's coach, especially with regards to the selection of a few players and his own coaching staff. Gambhir, notably, handpicked Ryan Ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel as part of this support staff after being named Team India's head coach. As Trump Plans Buyout, Question Is - Who Does Greenland Really Belong To?

Historically, Greenland has been a part of several countries. Though early settlers reached the island many centuries ago, it was only in the last few centuries that claims were made over the territory.  When Denmark and Norway were one country known as the Dano-Norwegian Realm (Det dansk-norske rige), explorers and settlers from the country sailed to Greenland, then known as Kalaallit Nunaat, and claimed sovereignty over the territory. When Denmark and Norway separated in 1814, it was agreed between them that the colony of Greenland would henceforth be transferred to the Danish crown. Greenland remained a territory of the Danish crown for nearly 140 years till Denmark was taken over by Nazi Gernamy. Under the code name 'Operation Weserubung', Nazi Germany attacked Denmark and Norway on April 9, 1940. Within a day Denmark surrendered and was occupied. At this time Greenland briefly became part of Hitler's territory. But knowing Greenland's strategic location, the Uni...

It doesn't matter who leads the Liberals. They don't deserve another chance." "Conservatives are jumping at the opportunity to take from you and give more to CEOs. You will pay the price of Poilievre's cuts. If you oppose callous Conservative...

"Gambhir Was Getting...": Reason Behind Rohit's No Retirement Interview Out

India captain Rohit Sharma 's future as a Test cricketer hangs in the balance following his omission from the team for the recently-concluded Sydney Test against Australia. Reports had claimed that Rohit was dropped from the team, suggesting that the player is no longer in the selector's plans for the future. However, on Day 2 of the match, Rohit gave an explosive interview to Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. During the interview, Rohit suggested that he "isn't retiring" and said that he decided to "opt-out" of the match owing to poor form. Rohit ended the series with 31 runs in three matches. However, former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar feels Rohit decided to clear his stance because Gautam Gambhir was getting credit for leaving the Indian captain out of the lineup. "But there was also another reason why he was doing that interview. To clear the air. Somewhere I think Gambhir was getting all the credit for a...

Amid Retirement Claims, Kohli Gets Brutal Reality Check: "Even Tendulkar..."

Team India's bitter defeat against Australia in the Sydney Test didn't just see them lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but also the glimmer of World Test Championship final qualification hope. As pundits Irfan Pathan and Sunil Gavaskar reflected on India's mistakes in the series, Virat Kohli 's below-par show with the bat stood among the top factors. Irfan didn't mince words as he tore into Kohli, highlighting his disappointing numbers with the bat while questioning his place in the team. The former India all-rounder even suggested that a youngster can give as many runs as Virat to the team. "In 2024, in the first innings, where the match is set, Virat Kohli only averages 15. Over the last 5 years, he doesn't even average 30. Does the Indian team deserve this from a senior player? Instead of this, give a youngster consistent rope, even he can give an average of 25-30. It's not about an individual, it's about the team," Irfan said during a chat...

"Clear Self Doubt": Manjrekar Minces No Words, Gives Brutal Verdict On Kohli

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar weighed in on Virat Kohli's ongoing struggles against deliveries outside the off-stump, following Kohli's dismissal on Day 2 of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney. Kohli's repeated dismissals to similar modes of attack have raised questions about his form, and Manjrekar opined that the batter is now grappling with self-doubt despite trying everything to overcome this glaring weakness. Kohli was dismissed by Australian seamer Scott Boland for the fourth time in the series. Boland's consistent targeting of the channel outside off-stump led Kohli to edge yet another delivery to the slip cordon. This marked the eighth time in nine innings that Kohli fell prey to the same weakness, highlighting a recurring issue in his game. Manjrekar, speaking on Star Sports, analysed the dismissal and pointed out a significant adjustment in Kohli's batting stance. For the first time in years, Kohli was batting deep inside his crease in...

US Army Veteran Behind New Orleans Attack "100% Inspired By ISIS": FBI

A US army veteran motivated by loyalty to the jihadist group Islamic State likely acted alone when he killed and injured dozens in a truck attack against a New Orleans crowd of New Year revelers, the FBI said Thursday. Despite initial concerns that Shamsud-Din Jabbar had accomplices still on the run, preliminary investigations show he likely was alone, FBI deputy assistant director Christopher Raia said. "We do not assess at this point that anyone else was involved," Raia said. However, new evidence emerged detailing the extent of the US citizen's loyalty to Islamic State and his plans to cause mayhem in the attack, which killed 14 and injured more than 30 in the French Quarter district, ending only after he was shot by police. "He was 100 percent inspired by ISIS," Raia said, using an alternative name for the international jihadist group. Just before the attack, in which 42-year-old Jabbar slammed a rented Ford F-150 pickup into the crowd, he "posted ...
