Citigroup Credited $81 Trillion In Account Instead Of $280 By Mistake: Report

Citigroup accidentally credited an account with $81 trillion instead of $280 as it meant to before catching the error, the  Financial Times reported. The snafu, a "near miss" in banking industry lingo, eluded a payments employee and a second bank official before being caught by a third employee 90 minutes after it posted, the newspaper reported late Thursday. The bank said it posted the payment to a client, without specifying what kind of client. The payment was reversed several hours later and no funds ever left the bank, the newspaper said. Citigroup, which has $1.7 trillion in assets according to Federal Reserve data, said there was "no impact to the bank or our client," according to a bank statement. "Despite the fact that a payment of this size could not actually have been executed, our detective controls promptly identified the inputting error between two Citi ledger accounts, and we reversed the entry," Citigroup said. Citi's snafu stemmed...

India Receive Massive Boost Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025 Semifinals

India's bowling coach Morne Morkel has rejoined the team after attending to a personal emergency back home and was part of the squad's training session on Wednesday. Morkel had to leave the Indian camp a couple of days before the team's Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh on February 20. The former South Africa pacer was seen having a long chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir as the players did their warm-up drills at the ICC Academy here. Shubman Gill, who has been India's stand out batter in the tournament, was the only one who did not turn up for practice. Rishabh Pant has recovered from an illness and trained on Wednesday with the rest of the squad. India enjoyed a couple of days off after outplaying Pakistan in their second group game. They have already reached the semifinals from Group A alongside New Zealand. Both teams will face each other in their last group match here on March 2. India, who last won the Champions Trophy in 2013, are favourites to lif...

Malik Asked Awkward Question By Hafeez On Live TV. Akhtar Intervenes

Pakistan's early exit from the Champions Trophy has led to nationwide outrage, with fans and experts criticising the teams approach. The hosts of the tournament, Pakistan, are officially out of the semi-finals race after losing to New Zealand and India, respectively, in their first two group games. However, all hell broke loose on live television when former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez put ex-teammate Shoaib Malik in an awkward position by asking him about his mentorship role during the PCB organised Champions Cup One-Day tournament last year. Malik, a former Pakistan captain, was one of the five mentors appointed by the PCB for the pentangular tournament. As Malik got uncomfortable after Hafeez's query, legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar intervened and came to his rescue. The incident took place on PTV Sports after New Zealand beat Bangladesh to dump them and Pakistan out of the semi-finals race. "Malik is among the five mentors working with the Pakistan tea...

Ramiz Raja Hints At 'Conspiracy' Behind Pakistan's Early CT 2025 Exit

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja questioned why Pakistan began its campaign against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy, rather than Bangladesh after India humbled Pakistan in a high-voltage clash in Dubai. Following Pakistan's heavy defeat against India, which jeopardised their title defence, Ramiz questioned the team's strategy. "I wonder why Pakistan played their first match against New Zealand. They should have played their first match against Bangladesh. Even though Bangladesh is a strong side, it was still comparatively an easy match for them," Ramiz said on his YouTube channel. Ramiz believes that playing Bangladesh first would have put equal pressure on each team in Group A, rather than allowing New Zealand to gain an early advantage. Pakistan's defeat to New Zealand put pressure on the team, which was exacerbated by their loss to India. After Pakistan surrendered to a thumping 60-run defeat against New Zealand, the significance of...

China Opens Its Arms For Dhaka As Bangladesh-India Ties Deteriorate

A significant diplomatic development is unfolding as a 22-member delegation from Bangladesh, comprising political leaders, civil society activists, academics, and journalists, embarks on a 10-day visit to China. This "goodwill visit", initiated by Beijing, aims to strengthen ties between the two nations amid rising tensions between Dhaka and New Delhi. "It's basically a goodwill visit, initiated by Beijing," Abdul Moyeen Khan, a senior official from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), told the BBC . "It is unique because China this time has invited a team representing various groups in Bangladesh," he added. The delegation, led by Khan, will engage in discussions with Chinese government officials and senior members of the ruling Communist Party. The delegation's visit comes at a time when diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh have become increasingly strained. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been living in exile in Indi...

Rohit Challenges Virat To Reach 100 With A Six, Sidhu's Remarks Win Hearts

After months of chatter around his dwindling form and continuity on the international stage, Virat Kohli added another illustrious century to his tally as he produced a match-winning knock against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy match on Sunday. India only needed two runs to win the match but Kohli still had to add a boundary to reach the triple-digit score. India captain Rohit Sharma , sitting in the dressing room, challenged his long-time teammate to reach his ton with a six. The visual left fans on social media in awe. Even former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu was impressed by the smile he saw on Rohit's face as Kohli reached the landmark. Kohli reached his hundred with a boundary and it was also enough for India to secure a 6-wicket victory against Pakistan. The result all but put Pakistan out of semi-finals race and put India in pole position to qualify for the last 4. What a match and what a win! "Let's Talk About Virat Kohli": Rizwan's Press Conference Act Stumps All

It isn't easy to sit in front of media and not stop lauding a player of the opponent team. But for Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan, it was important to doff his hat to Virat Kohli who played a masterful knock to all but eliminate the ICC Champions Trophy hosts. Kohli came into the showdown against Pakistan on the back of an embarrassing run that saw even his place in the team being questioned repeatedly. However, Kohli surprised everyone with his execution as he hit Pakistan bowlers all across the park.  Virat roared back to form with an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, laced with seven fours, a delight for every cricket lover. He added a couple of feathers to his hat, including the fastest to 14,000 ODI run milestone. Rizwan, who attended the press conference after Pakistan's defeat, wasn't just fascinated with Virat's effortless chase masterclass; but also the fitness level the India star has managed to maintain despite being 36 years old. As questions were fired at Riz...

"Didn't Get Benefit Of...": Rizwan Explains Reason Behind Pakistan's Loss

Captain Mohammad Rizwan conceded that Pakistan made many mistakes in a six-wicket defeat against their arch-rival India in the high-stakes Champions Trophy clash on Sunday in Dubai. Pakistan needed a win against a formidable India side to keep their fate in the Champions Trophy in their hands. However, things fell apart for Pakistan even though the toss went their way. A sluggish display with the bat and an uninspired bowling display jeopardised their title defence. On the other hand, India's spinners kept Pakistan's top stars confined while Virat Kohli dictated the terms of the chase with his unbeaten 51st ODI century. After falling short against their bitter rival, Rizwan didn't mince his words while summing up Pakistan's performance against India. "We won the toss, but we didn't get the benefit of the toss. Their (India) bowlers bowled very well. And Saud Shakeel, I wanted to take it deep. Poor shot selection. They put us under pressure. Whenever you lose, ...

PCB Blames ICC For 'India's National Anthem Row' In Lahore: "Hard To..."

Left red-faced after India's national anthem played for a fraction of a second at the start of the Australia-England Champions Trophy match on Saturday, the Pakistan Cricket Board has blamed the ICC for the fiasco and demanded an explanation from the world body. At the start of the game when the two teams lined up for their national anthems, the spectators were left surprised as the Indian national anthem played for a second before being stopped. A source close to the ICC confirmed that the PCB had sent a letter to the governing body outlining the incident and demanding an explanation. "The PCB has made it clear that the ICC needs to offer some explanation as their people are responsible for the (national anthem) playlist of teams in the Champions Trophy. "Since India is not playing in Pakistan, it is hard to understand how their anthem was played by mistake from the playlist," the source said. In the match between England and Australia at Gaddafi Stadium in Laho...

PCB Takes Drastic Step In Hosting Champions Trophy, Refuse Distribution Of...

For the first time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not distributing free passes for enclosures, VIP areas, or hospitality boxes during the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, a departure from past practices for international series in Pakistan. Typically whenever an international series is held in Pakistan, the PCB reserves tickets to be given out as free passes to some stakeholders including the media, government departments, VIPs and sponsors. However, this time except for a few tickets given to the Chairman for his personal guests and sponsors, the PCB has not been allocated any quota for complimentary passes, an official source close to the ticketing process for the Champions Trophy said. "The PCB officials are facing a lot of pressure as those used to getting free passes are asking them for the freebies but are being told that since the International Cricket Council controls the ticketing of the tournament there are no free passes,” the source said. "It becomes very dif...

Pak's Name Missing From CT 2025 Logo During Ind vs Ban Broadcast. ICC Says...

The Champions Trophy 2025 was hit by a fresh controversy after Pakistan's name was missing the tournament logo during the live broadcast of the India-Bangladesh Group A match in Dubai. During the tournament opener, the logo that was seen during the live coverage featured the name of the host (Pakistan). However, during the second game, Pakistan's name was not there and it caused quite a bit of stir on social media. The International Cricket Council (ICC) quickly reacted to the incident and according to Geo TV, an ICC spokesperson said that it was a technical glitch. The spokesperson also added that the broadcast of all India matches will feature the tournament logo along with Pakistan's name. Logo war... New Bat Coronavirus Capable Of Infecting Humans Discovered In China

A new bat coronavirus that carries the risk of animal-to-human transmission, similar to the one that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, has been discovered in China. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) , the new virus called HKU5-CoV-2 was found by a team of virologists led by Shi Zhengli, the famed scientist known as "Batwoman" for her lifetime work in coronaviruses, especially at the Wuhan Institute, which has been at the centre of the theory suggesting COVID-19 came from a lab leak - something China has denied repeatedly.  The Chinese researchers found that the new virus has similarities to SARS CoV-2 - the virus which led to the Covid pandemic - because this too can infiltrate human cells called ACE2 the same way Covid did, the outlet reported.  What is HKU5-CoV-2? HKU5-CoV-2 is a coronavirus belonging to the merbecovirus subgenus, which also includes the virus that causes Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). Scientists found that the new virus can bind to...

Revised Pilot Duty Norms, With More Rest Hours, From July 1: Aviation Body

The Delhi High Court has been informed by DGCA that airlines would implement the revised norms on duty and rest hours for pilots in a phased manner starting July 1. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also informed Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju that the remaining revised regulations would be implemented from November 1. Among other aspects, airlines will ensure that there are not more than 168 hours between the end of one weekly rest period and the start of the next under the revised norms. The watchdog's revised civil aviation requirement (CAR) relates to flight duty time limitation and seeks to provide more rest time for pilots amid concerns over pilot fatigue. Initially, it was to be implemented from June 1, 2024. DGCA submitted an affidavit in court on the phased implementation of the roadmap after considering the outcome of the minutes of the meetings among the representatives from the airlines, pilot groups and the civil aviation ministry. Trump Says "World War III Not Far Away"

US President Donald Trump on Thursday, while speaking at FII Priority Summit in Miami, warned that "World War III is not far away" but claimed that his leadership would prevent it from happening. Trump said that if former US President Joe Biden's administration had continued, the world would have been in war. "There's no profit for anyone in having World War III, and you're not so far away from it. I'll tell you right now. You're not so far away. If we would've had this administration for another year, you would've been in a war three, and now it's not going to happen," he said. Trump said that although the US will not participate in any of these wars, he will stop them. "We're going to stop people from these stupid, never-ending wars. We're not going to partake in them ourselves, but we'll be stronger and more powerful than anybody by far. And if it ever came to war, there is nobody that will be able to come clos...

Kash Patel, A Trump Loyalist, Confirmed As FBI Director

The Republican-controlled US Senate on Thursday confirmed Kash Patel, a staunch loyalist of President Donald Trump, to be director of the FBI, the country's top law enforcement agency. Patel, 44, whose nomination sparked fierce but ultimately futile opposition from Democrats, was approved by a 51-49 vote. The vote was split along party lines with the exception of two Republican senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who voted not to confirm Patel to head the 38,000-strong Federal Bureau of Investigation. Patel drew fire from Democrats for his promotion of conspiracy theories, his defense of pro-Trump rioters who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and his vow to root out members of a supposed "deep state" plotting to oppose the Republican president. The Senate has approved all of Trump's cabinet picks so far, underscoring his iron grip on the Republican Party. Among them is Tulsi Gabbard, confirmed as the nation's spy chief despit...

Neither Dead Nor Kidnapped, UP Runaway Bride Sends Cops Into Tizzy

The disappearance of a bride-to-be just hours before her wedding in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, a police complaint alleging abduction, and a social media post about her "death" sent investigators into a tizzy and sparked a massive manhunt, which ended after the woman was found in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior. According to police sources, the chaos began on Tuesday evening, when the woman, Sushmana Sharma left her house to visit a beauty parlour, just hours before her marriage with Bharat Bhushan. After the woman failed to return home and could not be traced, her family filed a police complaint, alleging she was abducted. However, in a bid to save face in front of guests and relatives, the groom's family posted on social media that the wedding could not take place as Sushmana died of a heart attack, the sources said. The social media post, the sources added, went viral as netizens extended their sympathies to the groom's family over the "devast...

The Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology headed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to the ministry's secretary S Krishnan over the issue. It said, "In the light of the above and growing incidents of misuse of digital and social media platforms, the Ministry of Electronics and IT is requested to send a brief note to this committee on the efficacy of existing laws to deal with such cases and need to amend the existing laws/IT Act, 2000, in order to bring such platforms under legal scrutiny". Harshit Rana Snubbed From CT 2025 India XI By Legend. "Not As Good As..."

Australian great Ricky Ponting will pick Arshdeep Singh over Harshit Rana for India's Champions Trophy opener against Bangladesh here on Thursday with the Rohit Sharma-led side hoping to fill the huge void left by injured pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Rana has done alright in the chances he has got ahead of the ICC event but Ponting feels the left-arm pacer Arshdeep is better suited to bowl in all phases of the 50-over game. "I would go with the left-armer and I'd go with Arshdeep (to replace Bumrah)," Ponting said on The ICC Review. "We know how good he's been in T20 cricket and if you think about the skill set, he probably provides a similar skill set to what Bumrah does with new ball and death overs and that's what India will miss. "That's taking nothing away from Harshit Rana because I think he has got a lot of talent and we know what he can do with the new ball, but I don't think his death skills are as good as what Arshdeep Singh...

"So anything to do with possibly even space, we won't let Elon partake in that," Trump told reporters. The White House has previously said Musk would excuse himself from any conflicts of interest between his various business interests and efforts to cut costs for the federal government via his Department of Government Efficiency. The White House said on Monday that Musk's role in the Trump administration was as a White House employee and senior adviser to the president, and that he was not an employee of DOGE. The White House also said Musk had no decision-making authority. When the hospital's director was questioned, he claimed that the CCTV server was hacked. "I don't know how the hospital videos went viral. Our CCTV server seems to have been hacked. However, we are also unaware of why this happened and will inform the police. "Masterclass For World Leaders": CNN On PM Modi's Negotiations With Trump

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his visit to the United States and left for New Delhi, the American media was all praises for the manner in which PM Modi dealt with US President Donald Trump, calling it a "masterclass for other leaders around the world". PM Modi, who is one of the first few world leaders to meet Donald Trump and hold bilateral talks, was in Washington on the same day as Trump announced sweeping reciprocal tariffs on US' allies and competitors alike. President Trump, who has called India a "tariff king" and a "massive abuser of tariffs" in the past, said he was "excited" to see PM Modi. "Prime Minister Modi is a great leader," he said, adding that "We're going to make some wonderful trade deals for India and the US." By the end of the meeting, despite the pressure of Trump's tariff announcement that same day, PM Modi turned the bilateral meeting into an opportunity. According to the joi...

"Ready To Move Towards Real, Guaranteed Peace": Zelensky After Meeting Vance

US Vice President JD Vance pledged Friday that Washington sought to secure a "lasting" peace as he held a first meeting with Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss Donald Trump's push for a deal with Moscow. The talks in Munich were seen as a key moment for Kyiv as it tries to keep Washington on its side after Trump stunned allies by announcing peace efforts with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. "We want to achieve a durable, lasting peace, not the kind of peace that's going to have Eastern Europe in conflict just a couple years down the road," Vance said as the meeting wrapped up. He said "good conversations" had been had with Zelensky about how they could reach that goal, and they would have more talks "in the days, weeks and months to come". Zelensky also hailed a "good conversation", saying the encounter with Vance was "our first meeting, not last, I'm sure". "We are ready to move as quickly...
