"Will Hold A Sit-In" If Amartya Sen's House Bulldozed: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday said that she will hold a sit-in at Bolpur in case authorities of the Visva Bharati University try to "bulldoze" Nobel laureate Amartya Sen's ancestral house 'Pratichi' in the campus area on the charge that he was illegally occupying more land than was leased out to him. The University in an eviction order, has asked Mr Sen to vacate by May 6 or within 15 days of the publication of the last order, 0.13 aces (5,550 square feet) of the 1.38 acres of the leased land which the authorities claim the famed economist occupies in an "unauthorised manner". Ms Banerjee told mediapersons here, "Amartya Sen is being attacked every day. I have seen their (VB's) audacity. I will be the first person to go there (Bolpur) if they (try to) bulldoze his house. Trinamool Leader's Daughter Arrested On Money Laundering Charges

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested TMC leader Anubrata Mondal's daughter Sukanya Mondal on money laundering charges linked to an alleged cattle smuggling case, official sources said. She was taken into custody under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following her questioning, they said. A primary school teacher in West Bengal's Birbhum district, Sukanya Mondal is expected to be produced before a local court on Thursday where the federal agency will seek her further custody. She has been interrogated by the ED a few times in the past as well. Anubrata Mondal, the Birbhum district president of the TMC, was arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in cattle smuggling and was also named in the charge sheet. Man Steals Girlfriend's Father's Phone, Threatens To Kill Yogi Adityanath

A 19-year-old youth was arrested after he allegedly issued a 'death threat' to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from a number belonging to his girlfriend's father, police said on Tuesday. Ameen had allegedly issued a death threat to Yogi Adityanath by calling on the police's 112 emergency number. He was arrested from Begumpurva and the mobile phone used to make the call seized, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankita Sharma said. Ameen hatched the conspiracy after being frustrated by the father of his girlfriend who was not happy with their relationship, she said. The police contacted the woman's father, an e-rickshaw driver, who claimed that his mobile phone had been stolen about 10 days ago, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Babupurva) Santosh Kumar Singh. "Delhi University Is Not Hogwarts": Row Over Rs 5 Lakh Magic Show

The Delhi University's move to spend Rs 5 lakh on a magic show as part of its centenary celebration has run into rough weather with a section of teachers questioning the rationale behind organising such a programme amid a "severe crunch of funds". According to a poster of the event, famous Jadugar Samrat Shankar will present the show on May 3 at the multipurpose sports complex at the varsity. It also said that the programme is being organised by the University of Delhi's Culture Council. The entry is strictly through registration, reads the poster. A varsity official said the show is being organised to develop scientific temperament among the students. Fight Breaks Out At Trinamool Event On Day 1 Of Abhishek Banerjee Yatra

A fight broke out over a ballot box at a public meeting in Coochbehar soon after Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee left the venue. Trinamool supporters were seen with torn ballot paper pieces and getting into a fight with each other. The incident happened during voting after Mr Banerjee left the meeting. "Given the excitement of people for the new ballot system, the crowd hogged the stage in large numbers in an unorganised manner because of which the chaotic situation unfolded," a Trinamool source who was at the venue said.
